Hôm nay, ngày giỗ của người cha yêu quí. Nam xách khăn gói trở lại chốn quê hương xưa.	Today, Nam, with luggage in hands, is coming back to his old native village on the occasion of his beloved father’s death anniversary.

Nhìn những cánh đồng xanh bát ngát, những đồi chè màu đất đỏ, trộn sắc xanh tươi um tùm, những ngọn núi cao chót vót, những khóm tre lác đác và con đường nhỏ gập ghềnh lầy lội, Nam cảm thấy long tràn ngập vui mừng. Chàng cảm ngay thấy lưu luyến, mến tiếc cảnh thôn quê tịch mịch, không muốn trở lại thành phố đông đúc nữa.	The sight of immense green fields, of tea-planted hills with red ground, of green bushes on high mountains, of scattered clumps of bamboos, of the sinuous and muddy path, fills Nam’s heart with joy. He immediately becomes attached and loves the quiet scene here and he does not want to return to the crowded city.

Chàng muốn sống đến những giây phút cuối cùng nơi thôn quê để hưởng lấy những hương vị ngây thơ, chất phác và giản dị ở đây.	He wants to live in the country until his final minutes to enjoy the flavour of innocence, naivety and simplicity.
